Getting a license for a pumped storage facility is no easy business. To convince energy regulators, you need to make a truly compelling case – demonstrating more than just a profit motive.

Pumped storage works by storing off-peak energy and releasing it at peak times. Profits are made on fluctuating energy prices. However, with today’s environmental challenges, you make your best case by demonstrating the connection with renewable power.

Eagle Crest Energy Company needed to make just such a point. So they hired Maraizon International to develop a descriptive animation. The purpose? To clearly show how pumped storage increases the benefits of renewable power, such as solar and wind.

Maraizon produced a 2.5-minute video, for distribution on the web and on DVD, which:

• Shows the "path of power" from clean energy sources to the project.
• Text captions add facts about renewable energy and pumped storage.
• An animated cross section demonstrates all features and functions of the project.
• Transitions show the project functioning day and night, peak and off peak.
• Energy from the project is shown going out to the grid.
• An animated map shows the area serviced by this facility.

Eagle Crest Energy Company now uses this video as the centerpiece of its website. The animation is shown on DVD at public hearings and investor meetings to demonstrate the project benefits.
